How to connect your Reddit Community Points (Reddit Vault) to Brave

  1. Create a Reddit Vault with the official Reddit mobile app
  2. Copy your Reddit Vault seed phrase (also known as a backup or recovery key) and restore it into your Brave Crypto Wallet. (Note: This recovery key is associated with a public Ethereum address.)
  3. Track the specific Reddit community point tokens you’d like to watch by adding their addresses into your Brave Crypto Wallet

Step-by-step Instructions

First, create a Reddit vault by opening your Reddit mobile app and pressing on your profile picture. This will reveal a menu. Press “Vault”.

Follow the steps to create your Reddit vault.

You will be asked if you would (a) like to create a Reddit backup of your vault, or (b) simply stick with a manual backup. Either option works.

If you choose “manual backup”, you will immediately see a 12-word recovery key. Save and copy that text.

Your 12-word recovery key. This is the essential ingredient.

If you created your Reddit Vault wallet but were not presented with your 12-word recovery key, navigate into your Vault and then press “Recovery Phrase”.

Once you have your recovery phrase copied, open Brave’s Crypto Wallet by navigating to brave://wallet. (You can also access your Brave Crypto Wallet by going into Brave settings and clicking “Crypto Wallets” in the top navigation bar.)

If you’ve never set up Crypto Wallets in Brave before, accept the disclaimer and then select the “Restore” option in New Local Wallet.

If you already had a wallet/account set up, click your profile picture in the top right corner to log out. Once you have logged out, click “Restore account? Import using account seed phrase”. (Warning: Make sure you have backed up the recovery key for your existing account!)

You will now be prompted to enter in your Reddit Vault recovery key. Enter your 12-word Reddit Vault recovery key, and then set a local password if required.

Tracking your Reddit community point tokens

Community point tokens must be manually added in order for your wallet to see and track your balances. To do so, click “Add token” in the bottom left corner of your wallet. If you cannot find the community tokens you’d like to add using the “Search” function, select the “Custom Token” tab to manually add new token balances to watch:

Note: As of May 2020, many Reddit community point tokens—like /r/cryptocurrency’s $MOONS—are only available on the “Rinkeby” Ethereum test network. As a result, you will need to point your wallet toward “Rinkeby Test Network” using the dropdown menu in the top-right corner of Crypto Wallets.

If the community point tokens you are looking for are not listed below, you can likely find the necessary information by visiting the relevant subreddits.

/r/cryptocurrency $MOONS (on Rinkeby)

Decimals of Precision: 18

Once you have added the tokens you’d like to track, you should see them appear in your Brave Crypto Wallet balances.

🎉Congratulations, you have fully connected your Reddit Vault with Brave’s native Crypto Wallet!
